An easy catamaran to sail with a huge living space and
all-round visibility inside with its large windows from every angle.
Skedaddle - from the 19th to the 24th of December 2010. Togs, sunglasses, hat and sunblock - check Wine and refreshments - check Yummy food from the provisioning guys - check The cat booked into the cattery - check Beautiful Whitsundays weather - oh? And yes that "beautiful sunny tropical weather" was definitely not here the first morning as we waited at the Hamilton Island Marina for Skedaddle to arrive. It was bucketing down with rain, so much so, that we couldn't even see 200 meters in front. And yes we were thinking "What are we doing?" Mind you though our 6 year old daughter couldn't care less and was quite happy jumping around in the puddles. But to give Mother Nature credit, she did take it easy on us. With a thorough briefing from Geoff, we were soon on our own and anchoring in Nara Inlet for the first night. From there on, the weather was overcast every day with lightning to light up the night skies. But when it did rain, which was rare, it was refreshing. It actually cooled down an otherwise hot day. Skedaddle was a perfect boat for the 3 of us (2 adults and 1 child). For 2 couples too, it'd be perfect. It had everything we needed and the self-selected provisionings was spot on. It is an easy boat to handle. We didn't sail as much as we'd like to but then we did get to do lots of exploring and swimming among the many beautiful bays and beaches from Nara Inlet to Macona Inlet and then Cid Harbour. Cid Harbour was our favourite spot. Our daughter loved the turtles, the shovel-nosed shark and goanna. Exploring Dugong beach was a definite highlight. For a first-timer, she couldn't get enough of it all. And it was a perfect spot for overnights too. With the strong SE winds we were getting, Cid Harbour offered great protection. Sure the weather wasn't perfect and it did throw us some challenges but this is something that we have taken away as an family adventure which we will cherish for a long time coming.
