The Whitsundays is located along Queensland's central coast in north-eastern Australia, approximately 1,120km north of Brisbane and 630kms south of Cairns. Travel to the region is easy whether driving from nearby towns, other states or travelling from the other side of the world.
The Whitsundays are serviced by two domestic airports - the Whitsunday Coast Airport (Proserpine) and the Great Barrier Reef Airport (Hamilton Island).
The Whitsunday Coast Airport (Proserpine) is located along the Bruce Highway approximately 30 minutes drive from Airlie Beach and is serviced by Tigerair, Jetstar and Virgin airways from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Shuttle buses meet all arriving flights - let us know your flight details and we will book your airport transfers for you. Shuttle's can deliver you to either Abell Point Marina, or to your accommodation.
The Great Barrier Reef Airport (Hamilton Island) is serviced by Qantaslink, Jetstar and Virgin airways from Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Cruise Whitsundays operate regular ferry services from Hamilton Island airport to Port of Airlie in Airlie Beach. A courtesy phone at the ferry terminal is available to call a taxi to Abell Point Marina or to your accommodation.
Alternatively, we can deliver your bareboat to Hamilton Island ($465) for you to start your charter. Similarly, you can end your charter at Hamilton Island and we will bring the boat back to Abell Point Marina ($465).
The Bruce Highway is the major highway linking Queensland's coastal cities and towns. Turn off from Proserpine towards Airlie Beach on Shute Harbour Road and travel 30 minutes until you reach Cannonvale and Airlie Beach.
The Cumberland Charter Yachts office is located at Shop 18, Abell Point Marina (North), Shingley Drive in Airlie Beach. There is ample parking at the marina, with parking fees at $10 per 24 hours. Alternatively, we can arrange for your car to be picked up, taken to a secure parking facility and returned when you have finished your charter (From $130/3 days). Greyhound and Premier Bus service between Cairns and Brisbane with a bus terminal located in Airlie Beach.
Queensland Rail service links Proserpine to all major destinations from Cairns to Brisbane, Sydney and beyond. Bus services meet each train and take you to Airlie Beach, 30 minutes drive from the train station.
